The date of the Royal Wedding – Friday 29th April – is inching ever closer… And whilst the bride-to-be’s preparations will be anything but ‘normal’ (with her pick of iconic fashion and jewellery designers, a service within the regal surroundings of Westminster Abbey, and the eyes of the world focusing on her big day), Kate Middleton shares something in common with all engaged ladies – the desire to look her best on one of the most important days of her life…
Whether you are marrying a prince or a pauper, your bridal beauty regime is bound to be a top priority. The aim? Glowing skin, plump lips, perfect eyebrows, and immaculate makeup.
So place down your wedding scrapbook, put that phone call to the florist on hold, and focus your attention on our countdown to wedding perfection. And if you’re reading Kate, it’s not too late to join in…
A MONTH BEFORE – Focus on lips
In one month’s time, your smile will take centre stage – so now is the time to pay some attention to your pout.
Treat yourself to a pot of lip scrub (look for ingredients like almond oil and shea butter to soften skin) – or, as an affordable alternative, gently sweep an old toothbrush over lips to brush away rough skin and leave your pout silky smooth.
When it comes to picking a lipstick shade for your big day, keep the colour pretty and natural. Kate Middleton is known for wearing nude shades with subtle shine and soft liner - a look that is ideal for stylish brides-to-be.
If you’re worried about your lip colour fading, why not try a Semi-Permanent lip treatment? Debra Robson-Lawrence recommends Tender Tint Lip Wash in Bare, Lust or Smoothie Baby Pinks. She explains: “This treatment builds up eye-catching colour, whilst creating the illusion of plumping lips to make them appear full, smooth, and super-pretty!”
TWO WEEKS BEFORE – Perfect your eye makeup
Decided on your eye makeup? With just a couple of weeks to go, now is the time to experiment, practice, and perfect your technique.
Kate Middleton boasts strikingly beautiful eyes – and they are rarely seen without subtle liner on both the upper and lower lash line. This look is perfect for your wedding day, as it will define eyes for photographs – but be careful to keep the line as thin and jog-free as possible. Choose a felt-style liner and move across the lash line in one confident movement.
If you are unsure, why not let somebody else do it for you? Debra Robson-Lawrence’s Secret Liner is ideal. She says: “With Secret Liner® we define the eyes by pushing pigment colour up and underneath the roots of your top lashes and gently along the lower, creating invisible definition, opening up your eyes and making lashes look ultra luscious!”
ONE WEEK BEFORE – Groom eyebrows
Never underestimate the difference that groomed, tidy brows will make to your appearance. In the final days before your wedding, it should be as high on your ‘to do’ list as sorting the table plan and favours.
Grooming at home with tweezers is tempting, but it’s hard to resist the urge to over-pluck – so for best results, head to a professional. Eyebrow threading is quick, painless, and will leave you with a set of arches to rival the Princess-to-be.
If your brows are less than perfect, Debra Robson-Lawrence can help with her Brow Couture treatment. She says: “This technique can re-style and reshape over-tweezed or over-waxed brows and can lighten, darken or soften their colour with micro-fine strokes invisible to even the closest scrutiny.”
Blonde hair? Debra can still define your brows with her BrowLites for Blondes technique, giving a beautiful, natural-looking result. She explains: “For this technique, I start by creating a blonde base in the eyebrow shape. Through that base, I add highlights of a deeper colour, which gives a very natural effect for those with naturally fair hair.”
With your bridal beauty sorted, you can feel totally confident in front of family, friends, and (if applicable) paparazzi. Have a fabulous day – and don’t forget to practice your regal wave…
