We Take A Closer Look At The Bridal Make-up of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

Question: What do Her Royal Highness Duchess of Cambridge (our future Queen, Kate Middleton) and Semi-Permanent Makeup Queen Debra Robson-Lawrence have in common?

Answer: They both wore wedding dresses by the label Alexander McQueen - Debra a stunning dress created by the designer himself, and Catherine a beautiful gown by Sarah Burton, the talented designer who has taken over the now-iconic British label.

Whilst Kate Middleton's dress demanded hours of hand-stitched lace work, Debra's haute couture gown glistened with sequins in the sunshine. The stunning creation had a trademark McQueen cowl back and fishtail, along with a hand woven oriental style silk shawl as a cover-up. Debra was a close friend of the designer Lee McQueen, sharing the same birthday and close-knit group of friends. Always a fan of his creations, she had attended some of the designer's first fashion shows.

If you want tips on how to achieve Kate Middleton's wedding day look, there are few better people to ask... Debra Robson-Lawrence tattoos the faces of famous people, many of her clients are in the spotlight, with Hollywood A-Listers, pop stars, and royalty regularly stepping through the doors of her slick clinic. Debra is regularly called upon to treat supermodels prior to those infamous red carpet events - as well as for film and television. Celebrities choose Semi-Permanent make-up because it ensures that they look good all the time.

Commenting on the Duchess' wedding day look, Debra Robson-Lawrence says: "The dress designer wasn't the only decision that Kate got right... Her whole look, which has been applauded by fashion and beauty press worldwide, was classic and striking. Surprisingly, Catherine did her own makeup on the morning of her wedding, with an official statement revealing that a Bobbi Brown make-up artist was on hand to help."

If your big day is approaching (or you simply want to emanate her look for an event or evening out), it is well worth taking notes from the Queen of Semi-Permanent makeup!

Step One: Natural, defined brows

Kate's brows were natural, yet strongly defined. This lifted and framed her face perfectly for her moment in the spotlight.

Debra says "I love eyebrows and created the "Power Brow" using our exclusive FAME® technique for those who prefer a more defined, "High Power" look."

"With Semi-Permanent Make-up, we can create a slightly darker brow with more depth, which is still in line with current trends, but doesn't drown the features. It's an excellent way of updating your look instantly and can really awaken the face and bring the eyes to life, giving you that extra bit of sparkle! With a fine needle we can produce much more precise results and create ultra fine individual strokes that blend seamlessly with the natural hair."

Step Two: Expertly applied eyeliner

Kate stuck to her signature look of expertly applied eyeliner for her big day, but applied it slightly heavier for extra definition.

Debra Robson-Lawrence explains: "For this look, I would recommend our Eye Intensifier Treatment. It accentuates and widens your eyes. Applying your own eyeliner is extremely difficult, but when eyes have been professionally lined or kohled, they can look amazing."

Step Three: Rose-pink lipstick

When it came to her pout, Kate kept things simple with a pretty rose-pink lipstick and clear gloss to add a little shine to her smile.

For a long-lasting result, however, it's hard to beat a Semi-Permanent lip treatment. Debra Robson-Lawrence says: "The Tender Tint Lip Wash would be ideal for this look. The technique shapes and defines, to make lips appear full, smooth and super-pretty. For the subtle, pretty rose-pink that Kate wore on her wedding day, I would suggest the colour 'Bare Baby Pinks'."

Debra adds: "The Duchess got her make-up spot on for the biggest day of her life - and if you are heading up the aisle soon, there can be no better inspiration for your wedding day look!"
